MLB Playoffs 2013: What Los Angeles Dodgers’ 25-Man Roster Should Look Like
25 Men Who Can Help The Dodgers Win The World Series
When building a postseason roster, you want to make sure you have enough hitters and pitchers, but you also need to take into consideration spot-starters, lefty specialists, pinch runners and pinch hitters. You want all of your best players on the roster, but you also want some youth and veteran leadership as well. Building a roster is time-consuming, and leaving one person off of it could eventually cost you a series in the playoffs. The Los Angeles Dodgers have a large amount of talent and a lot of players at each position to choose from, but making the right decisions on which players you put on your postseason roster can pay dividends to you and your team in the long run.
Obviously some choices are easier to make than others. You basically start out with your normal starting rotation, but in this case you may not need to have a five-man rotation, so you just add more arms to your bullpen, but keep a few guys who could make a spot-start for those long series. Next, you would build your starting lineup. Normally, it doesn’t differ much from your regular-season lineup, so that makes a manager’s job easier. After that, you would build your bench. In these cases, it’s good to have players who can play multiple positions because then you can add more arms to your bullpen and have those lefty specialists or more hard-throwing righties that can get batters out in those big moments when you definitely need an out.
With all that said, this is the 25-man roster the Los Angeles Dodgers will likely go with this postseason.
