As the world of Major League Baseball gets ready to see the two best teams in the American League clash in the American League Championship Series, everyone is making predictions. The truth of the matter is these two teams are close enough when both are performing at a high level that there is no way to really know which one will come out on top. We can look at the main factors however which are not strange in nature. It will come down mainly to the Boston Red Sox offense.

I don’t want to shortchange the pitching of this squad because that will be a big deal too. The thing about the pitching is that the starters of the Detroit Tigers will not be outpitched by the Red Sox’ group. No matter how well the Sox pitch, they will be at least matched by Max Scherzer and Justin Verlander as far as execution goes. That is why the Red Sox offense will be the main telling factor in the series.

Even when the offense of the Tigers slumps, they have a fantastic pitching staff that is able to basically fix what goes wrong. If the systematic, one through nine offensive attack of the Red Sox can score runs off of and force more pitches out of the starting staff of the Tigers, it will win the series for them. As good as the Tigers are, their bullpen will not be able to match up well against that of the Red Sox. If they can do this, the Red Sox will win the series. If they are dominated by the Tigers’ starting pitching, they will have a hard time pulling out more than two victories.
