Though there is nothing set in stone until the final roster is submitted, it appears that Allen Craig will rejoin the St. Louis Cardinals on the 25-man World Series roster. This could be huge for the Cardinals. No one surely assumes that Craig would be able to step right in at full game speed but then again with the adrenaline of the World Series, you never know. Even if he wasn’t completely up to speed as far as timing and such goes, having him could still make a huge difference in the series.
From the perspective of the Boston Red Sox, they have to deal with his presence in the line-up even if he isn’t at 100 percent. For the Cardinals meanwhile it could be the best option for DH in the American League park so that he can ease into playing shape before Mike Matheny has to decide what to do with him in the National League park. Power-wise there is no telling what Craig could give the Cards but that isn’t the only part of his game anyway.
This is a guy that drove in 97 runs in 137 games and hit a good little bit over .300 for that time period. He knows how to hit like so many of the Cardinals do and having one more of them in there with a good and active threat with the bat could really make the offensive difference for the team. If the Cards get a boost offensively from Craig considering what their pitching staff brings to each game, the job of the Red Sox gets just that much more difficult. Craig’s return will be a big deal in one way or another, you can count on that.
