Kansas City Royals Rumors: Carlos Beltran Would be Good Fit

Only time will tell how the MLB offseason unfolds for the Kansas City Royals. For now however it is clear that they plan to make more noise than normal in the free agent and even trade market. An offseason that was somewhat aggressive would be a very good thing for this franchise after a winning season in 2013. It would show the GM and Owner have dedicated themselves to trying to make winning seasons the norm around the Royals clubhouse.

They have even stated this offseason that they might be willing to lose next season’s first round draft pick if it meant signing the right player. That might be necessary for at least one of their needs. They want power in the outfield and have stated that they want to fill that need with the right person. Carlos Beltran, Nelson Cruz and Curtis Granderson have all been mentioned as rumored possibilities. Of those it seems to me that Beltran would be the best fit.

All are obviously talented in the field and the other two might possibly be able to provide slightly more offense but Beltran provides a good veteran presence that would be very positive for the entire team. The other added benefit of Beltran is his obvious production during postseason play. If the Royals go another step forward and make even the wildcard playoff game next season, Beltran would be possibly even more valuable than the other two while coming at a decent price for less time.
