5 Reasons for New York Yankees Fans to Be Thankful Heading into 2014

Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

Having a lot of success as a Major League Baseball franchise is a great thing but it also comes with a price. No team has had more success over the years than the New York Yankees. Their rich history is something for every Yankees fan to be thankful for every season but it also can be a burden to the team it would seem. After all, if they do not win it all like they have done so many times before; they are considered in large part a failure.

What then could make the 2014 season different for the fans? Could they enter in with more hope and thankfulness this upcoming season than those recently past? As usual the funds are next to unlimited for the Yankees during the offseason and that certainly could mean a lot of great things coming no matter who or what ends up not returning. It’s always a good thing to any fan for their team to have unlimited funds no matter what the need is.

That is especially true when a franchise is going through what the Yankees are going through with Alex Rodriguez right now. They need all of the positive things to happen that they can manage to pay for. Whether it is avoiding the A-Rod situation or making sure not to allow Robinson Cano suspend their offseason dealings, the Yankees are driving forward with the same urge to win. That is a very important thing for fans to always remember about their team because most fans cannot claim that.

4 – Alfonso Soriano

Anthony Gruppuso-USA TODAY Sports

Soriano marked what was one of the smarter trades of the season in 2013 and his services remain with the Yankees for at least one more season. It is a very good trade that they are still reaping the benefits of. Chances are good that they will do so during the coming offseason months as well.

3 – Derek Jeter

Jeter is getting up in age and appears to be somewhat fragile lately as he can’t stay healthy for long. Other than those two things, there is only good that can come from any sort of Jeter return to a Yankees uniform.

2 – Joe Girardi

Girardi is one of the most respected managers in MLB and for the Yankees to be able to re-sign him and get him back for four years is one of the greatest deals of the entire MLB offseason. He figures to take those four years and at least carry the Yankees to their next World Series chance.
