Milwaukee Brewers fans are surely looking for reasons to be thankful heading into 2014 and there are plenty of them. Like any fan-base hit by the PED suspensions, the Brewers faithful surely have lost a little bit of faith in their team and most importantly their star outfielder. It is very easy to focus on the negative in any situation and its human nature to focus on that way too much. Instead of rehashing all of the negative things, we are going to look at things Brewers fans can be thankful for.

I think one of the things that can be a real plus for the Brewers going forward is a much improved minor league system. It didn’t make the top five reasons but to be sure, this Brewers farm system is not a weak link for this organization. Through player development and positive trades, they have resurfaced as a team that could really make some home-grown noise within the next few years.

There are more things than that to be thankful for however. You might be surprised by one or two of them or even disagree. If you happen to disagree or agree and have more to add, leave a comment in the comments section below. Without any further delay, here are the five reasons for Brewers fans to be thankful heading into the 2014 season. A fair warning; you’re bound to see at least one former suspended player in this list. Take a look for yourself.

Who is Considered to be Milwaukee Brewers’ Top Prospect in 2014?

5 – Ryan Braun

No one should be proud of Braun for his involvement in the PED scandal but we should all be just as willing as he is to put it behind us and move along. Braun wants to do just that and is even willing to shift outfield positions to make room for new talent to come in playing his old position. That sounds like a new start to me.

4 – Kyle Lohse

I am in favor of the Brewers keeping Lohse as he is a very good innings guy who gives a chance to win. That can be very hard to come by on the open market. Even if they trade him however, he would be worth quite a decent load of prospects. Either way fans should be thankful he is around.

3 – Jonathan Lucroy

It isn’t easy to get a good defensive catcher with the added bonus of offensive pop. The Brewers have that man for their roster in Lucroy. He has the ability and potential to be something special at the backstop position for a long time.

2 – Carlos Gomez

Gomez produces just as many reasons to be upset as thankful. Whenever he gets into a hard long drive or jumps to bring one back over the wall, there isn’t a Brewers fan out there that hates him. Sure he gives plenty of chances not to like him but Brewers fans should be thankful just the same.

This young man has the ability to be a season-changing talent at the major league level and he should get a solid chance to prove his worth next season for the Brewers.
