5 Gifts From Santa For Detroit Tigers
5 Gifts From Santa For The Detroit Tigers
The holidays are here and children worldwide are making their lists of wishes for Santa. It shouldn't be just kids making wishes to Santa this Christmas though because let's face it, the Detroit Tigers are in need of a few things from Santa this year too. The Tigers have been pretty good overall and a little naughty in the ALCS, but maybe this year could be something special with the help of Santa.
Now perhaps the Tigers' list is a bit too long for even Santa to fulfill, but if the team is able to get even a few things on their giant wishlist, they will once again be considered a favorite to win the AL. The smell of candy canes and hot chocolate fill the air, but all the Tigers can smell right now is that bitter smell of defeat from last season. The only way to get that smell out is for next season to get here and to build as strong a team as possible heading into it.
It is time for Mr. Ilitch to dress up in a giant Santa suit and begin handing out gifts (preferably money) to make this team and its fans get into the holiday spirit. Some things on this list don't even require money, but would sure go a long way to making this team better. So read on to find out the five gifts that the Tigers are hoping are under their Christmas tree this Wednesday morning to let them ring in the new baseball season right.
5. Grant Balfour
Grant Balfour ruffled a few Tigers feathers in the postseason, but if they can harness his pitching ability and energy in positive ways, he could be a giant boost to a shaky bullpen.
4. A New Bat For Austin Jackson
Austin Jackson should be asking for a new bat for Christmas because his current one has this flaw where it can't seem to make contact with the ball.
3. A Contract Extension For Max Scherzer
Santa is going to really have to reach deep in his checkbook for this wish, but if any person is worthy of it for being good this year, it is Max Scherzer.
2. A Restraining Order For Phil Coke
Will Phil Coke ever leave this team? Can Santa take him with him back to the North Pole? Even then, he may still find his way back.
1. A Healthy Miguel Cabrera
I'm not sure if Santa has the magic to heal injuries but if he does, it sure would be nice to have a healthy Miguel Cabrera for the entire 2014 season.
