Washington Nationals: Bryce Harper Wants a UFC Title Belt

Washington Nationals 21-year old Bryce Harper is an interesting character. He is who he is, and he’s full of fun statements and bold predictions. When the offseason began, we learned that he plans to become as big as a house. About a week ago, he said he was going to enter Spring Training weighing a whopping 245 pounds. Last week, he asked the UFC for a title belt, and he just might get it.

The whole exchange took place over Twitter and while it was short, it was riveting. Below, you’ll find the complete conversation. People, this is real life and is actually happening.

This isn’t the first time that an athlete has asked for or received a title belt of some kind. Clayton Kershaw, Max Scherzer, David Ortiz, LeSean McCoy and LeBron James have all received WWE title belts for various things that they’ve done. Let’s be honest, we’ve all wanted one and have dreamed about walking around wearing our giant, gold-plated belt of awesomeness. We just haven’t, or simply can’t, done anything cool enough to get one.

For Bryce Harper, the fact that all he has to do is hit a batting practice homer to get one is simply awesome. If you’ve ever shown up early to a Nationals game for batting practice, then you know that he puts on a show with his tape-measure hits.
