Miami Marlins President David Samson To Star On ‘Survivor’

Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

The Miami Marlins love to spring up some controversy. Owner Jeffrey Loria got into numerous tiffs with former manager Ozzie Guillen and former first baseman Logan Morrison in 2012. Then after the season was over he blew up his $100 million payroll baby in order to lose 100 games and get a high draft pick. The organization does not shy away from the ridiculous or the incredulous, which makes team president David Samson‘s latest endeavor not the least bit surprising.

According to reports, Samson is going to be on the next season of CBS’s hit reality show Survivor. Samson is apparently an accomplished distance runner and has competed in the Ford Ironman World Championship Triathlon in Hawaii becoming the only U.S. team president to complete the feat. Samson has also completed six marathons spanning New York City, Miami and Boston. If the report is true, Samson will have a lot to compete with and could make a name for himself and the organization.

The show is in its 28th season and will be called ‘Survivor: Cagayan.’ It was filmed last summer in the Philippines. Nothing has been confirmed yet because contestants do not talk about the show until it is actually aired on television, according to the Palm Beach Post.

It will be interesting to see if Samson makes amends for the past controversies he has started or if he is the antagonist of the show to begin with. It would not be a surprise at all if he hangs someone out to dry or makes a lot of enemies during his time on the island.
