Philadelphia Phillies’ Ben Revere Showing He Is Ready To Go
Today was the first official workout for pitchers and catchers in Clearwater. Among them were a few Philadelphia Phillies’ position players. One of them was center fielder Ben Revere. He is starting his workouts early to show he will be ready for the 2014 season.
Revere’s 2013 season ended early when he suffered an ankle injury. The injury required surgery. Of course, the injury occurred when Revere was on a hot streak. Now returning from an injury, no one knows how Revere is going to return this season. Revere has been working out all offseason. He has been improving his swing. He wants to be able to drive the ball more. He believes he figured out a way to do it. I guess we will see come opening day.
Revere showing up to Spring Training early shows that he wants to prove something. He wants to show that he deserves the starting spot in center field. He wants to show that he could potentially be the leadoff hitter. He wants to show everyone what talent he has.
Before Revere, got injured he was hitting .305. In 88 games he had 96 hits, 12 of those being extra-base hits. Revere managed to collect 17 RBIs. Those were just numbers for the first half of the season. Imagine what he could do for a full season.
Everyone is going to be watching Revere this season. They are going to see if he is as healthy as he is saying. They are going to want the offense he produced before was injured. If Revere doesn’t impress the fans, the trade talk will begin early. Revere believes this is going to be his season to shine. He is ready to show why he could be a center fielder of the future.
