There are so many young names around the Chicago White Sox right now that it would be difficult to name them all. One such name is minor league pitching prospect Chris Beck who will get his first look at Spring Training this year. What he will do with that is up in the air but if his 2013 numbers continue it would become clear. He would likely get himself on a faster track to MLB.
One very interesting and important thing to know about Beck’s minor league career is that his numbers have improved every time he was promoted. He played better in A-ball than Rookie league and better in Double-A than A-ball. Considering this trend, it will be fascinating to see what he is able to do with MLB hitters during 2014 Spring Training.
What is really at stake here for Beck is his potential going forward. He will probably start the season at Double-A but if he were to smash MLB spring talent, he could well earn a quick promotion to Triple-A and once there could possibly go through to a late-season MLB call-up. That would be fast of course but it is very possible if he has a great spring.
For sure this guy is one teams should keep an eye on. In a potential trade situation Beck could be a steal as an add-on player to be named later. Then again the White Sox probably will want to hold onto him if he keeps producing numbers like his 2.89 ERA from 2013. Time, and only a few weeks of it, will tell.
