The pains of last season’s failure to make the postseason must still sting for the Washington Nationals as the 2014 MLB season approaches. They have done a little here and there but is it enough to overtake the Atlanta Braves? The Nats fans have at least five reasons to think so. Check them out and let us know what you think.

Though there could be a few worries with his recent soreness in Spring Training, there is little doubt that Fister will improve the Nationals’ starting rotation this season. They should have been one of the strongest anyway and with the addition of Fister they should be even better.

Strasburg is one of the few MLB players who is cursed by his own talent. Because he is expected to be perfect, some see his slightly less than perfect seasons as a failure. This guy will be awesome again this season and most definitely a reason to be excited for the team.

Lately LaRoche has been alternating good and bad seasons. He was terrible in 2011 but great in 2012. He was less than awesome in 2013 so then he should be great this year too. We shall see but at least his facial hair seems to point in the right direction. It got the Red Sox to the championship after all.

The change at manager could be the most important for the Nats this season. Nothing against any past manager but there is a reason many teams wanted the services of first year manager Williams. The Nats were the team he chose and the fans should be more than fist-pumping about it.

Fans should not only be excited about the returning presence of Harper but rather should be pumped because he is healthy once again. He did not have a terrible season last year unless it is compared to his rookie campaign. His injured time cannot be ignored last season as well as the fact that he played hurt for most of the season when he was active. This year is another new start.
