Not many experts will pick the Miami Marlins to win the National League East this season. It is easy enough to admit that they would definitely be underdogs of the largest sort in the division. That should not mean that the team will be terrible though. Things are slowly getting much better for this franchise in spite of the nasty way change happened. Here are a few reasons fans should be very excited about the 2014 MLB season.

I have said it before and I will say it again. He might not be considered the best pitcher on his own staff but there are few starting pitchers in the game of baseball better than Eovaldi. As the starting rotation as a whole looks better with each year; Eovaldi will continue to be one of the best and brightest.

Though Cishek’s name might not come up in the conversation about who the best closers in MBL are, he is definitely improving his standing with each passing save he converts. Many were interested in him this offseason but the Marlins smartly kept a tight hold on him. Fans should enjoy his expert ability when their team carries a lead into the ninth.

Furcal isn’t exactly blowing it up during Spring Training but overall he should be a very good addition to this team. Offensively he knows how to get on base and move runners along. Defensively he should be as solid as any second baseman in the game. Forget what else you have heard, he is a good addition.

Saltalamacchia is popular in a lot of circles but some don’t think he is near the elite catchers in the game. Whatever your opinion of that, he is most definitely the right choice for backstop for the Marlins. It should be a very fun season with some run production on the side with Salty back there.

This is about the most obvious thing for any Marlins fan to look forward to. It seems that Fernandez is the personality type that should not have to worry with a serious sophomore slump and that should make his second season even more fun to watch than the first. Who else wonders what he will do if he hits a second home run?
