The Milwaukee Brewers begin opening day against the Atlanta Braves at Miller Park. After the Wisconsin Badgers’ thrilling victory in the Elite Eight on Saturday, Wisconsin sports fans are hoping for the magic to continue with the Brewers. Milwaukee will put out a competitive roster against a very good Atlanta Team. However, will it be enough to win? Check out five predictions for the Brewers on opening day.

Ace Yovani Gallardo gets the call as he tries to put last year’s dismal performance in the rearview mirror. The right-hander has the opportunity to set the tempo for the rest of the season. Hopefully, he will take advantage and show his teammates what Milwaukee will be all about in 2014. I predict Gallardo’s strong showing will allow him to toss seven innings.

4. Rickie Weeks Will Go 2-For-4

The hope is that Rickie Weeks can regain his All-Star form and give the Brewers a much-needed boost at second base. If Weeks can find his power and not slack at the plate, Milwaukee could have a real good chance to do some damage this season. Expect Weeks to get hot on offense right out of the gate by going 2-for-4 against Atlanta.

Carlos Gomez is ready to put his Gold Glove to good work this season. The most exciting center fielder in the game loves to make a game-changing play with his glove just as much as hitting a home run. Whether it’s robbing a home run or making a diving catch, don’t be surprised if Gomez makes at least acrobatic catch.

2. Ryan Braun Will Hit Two Home Runs

Ryan Braun will be the man of the hour, whether that’s a good or bad thing we will soon find out. The hope is that the fans at Miller Park will give him a warm reception, but no one could fault them if a few boo birds chime in with the crowd noise. Braun is ready to have a season to remember, as he desperately wants to make it up to the fans. I predict he will crush two home runs, which will be his way to show he means business.

This might be the boldest prediction on the list. I fully expect the Brewers to win because I, unlike a lot of people, believe Milwaukee will have something special brewing in 2014. Atlanta is a very good baseball team, which means the win will be that much sweeter.
