Don't sleep on the Dodgers' lineup. Although the Tigers lead the league in batting average and slugging percentage, they aren't as far ahead of the Dodgers as it seems. Although Los Angeles is just 19th in batting average(.242) and 12th in slugging percentage(.396), they rank eighth in runs(31).

Players to watch: Dee Gordon (.421 AVG, 3 RBI, 3 SB), Andre Ethier (.304 AVG, 1 HR, 6 RBI), Yasiel Puig (.250 AVG, 1 HR, 4 RBI)

The Tigers have one of the best pitching staffs in baseball behind the likes of Justin Verlander, Max Scherzer and Anibal Sanchez. Unfortunately for the Dodgers, two of the big three are pitching in this two-game series. Detroit is 11th in ERA(3.19) and have gathered a quality start in three of five games.

Game 1 starter: Scherzer (0-0, 0.00 ERA, .154 BAA, 7 SO, 1 BB)

Game 2 starter: Sanchez (0-0, 4.50 ERA, .143 BAA, 3 SO, 3 BB)

The Dodgers have a scary-good rotation that is led by Clayton Kershaw. Unfortunately for the Dodgers, Kershaw is out a few weeks to start the season with an injury, so they will have to rely more on the other four starters. Los Angeles is 11th in ERA(3.17) as well as ninth in batting average against(.215).

Game 1 starter: Dan Haren (1-0, 0.00 ERA, .182 BAA, 6 SO, 0 BB)

Game 2 starter: Hyun-Jin Ryu (1-1, 3.86 ERA, .241 BAA, 14 SO, 7 BB)

The Tigers have the better lineup through one week of the season with Torii Hunter remaining red-hot. While Matt Kemp is battling injuries to remain in the lineup, the Dodgers are struggling to find a solid offensive rhythm. Game one between these two will be electric with Scherzer and Haren squaring off to see who will allow their first run of the season.

Series prediction: 1-1; Tigers take game one, Dodgers take game two
