The MLB season is just one week old, but some fans are in a rush to make proclamations about how things will go the rest of the year. The problem with that is that the MLB season is a 162 game marathon. Some teams get off to slow starts and their fan base overreacts. One of those teams is the Texas Rangers. The Rangers are 3-4 and some fans think the season is lost. With that in mind, here are five overreactions to the Rangers' first week.

The Rangers have not done well with their starting pitchers outside of the one start by Yu Darvish. However, it does not mean that will be the case all season. The Rangers are missing a lot of their starting rotation. Fans need to wait and see how the pitching is when Matt Harrison, Colby Lewis, and Derek Holland return.

The Bullpen has had its ups and downs through the first week of the season, but much like the starting rotation, it is missing some pieces. Tanner Scheppers and Robbie Ross could go back to the bullpen when the starters return. Alexi Ogando could also find the form that made him a dominant reliever in previous years.

The Texas Rangers spent the offseason revamping their offense. The goal was to hit more home runs and drive in more runs. Through the first seven games, the Rangers have only hit two home runs, and some fans are starting to panic. The Rangers will hit home runs, and a lot of them. They have too many proven power-hitters for it not to happen.

Prince Fielder was the biggest offseason addition, and fans have been disappointed so far. Fielder has only four hits in 28 at bats in the first seven games. Fielder is adjusting to a new team and is slumping a bit, but that will not last for long. He will get on track soon, and the hits and home runs will start piling up.

The Rangers are 3-4, and some fans have already determined that they cannot win the division this season. The truth is, no matter how well or how poorly you play in the first week of the season, no team can win or lose the division when there are still 155 games left to play. It’s a long season, and my advice to fans is just to sit back and enjoy the ride.

IMHO – It has nothing to do with the playing record of the team during the first week. Maybe it has something to do with Jackie, Nolan, Josh, Ian, and a few others getting dumped by the idiot in the front office …. I mean…. who cares about winning games when your best players are traded away for a song and you get a “bargain” for a guy who can’t catch a foul ball at first base.
