The Cleveland Indians are off to a .500 start to begin the first 10 games of the season, going 5-5. They have played some solid baseball, but also have things to worry about as they are in the midst of a seven-game road trip playing the rival White Sox and Tigers. Here's five things the team needs to improve on as the season gets into high gear.

Through 10 games the Indians offense is hitting just .237, and while they have had games with some signs of offense (like their eight-run outing against the Padres on Tuesday), the team is still trying to find its groove at the plate and have been having issues the last three games, scoring just a total of six runs.

Catcher Yan Gomes is off to a slow start with three errors of his own, which is very unlike a catcher who was one of the best defensively last season. Overall, the club has been a bit sloppy with the glove, committing eight errors over the first 10 games, a stat that has to get better.

If it seems like the Indians are playing behind a lot the first 10 games, there's a reason why. The team's starters out of the gate are getting off to a tough starts, including ace Justin Masterson, who had a rough last start vs. the Padres, and has given up five earned runs in 10.2 innings. The Indians need the starters to pick it up.

Three of the Indians' top hitters are having tough starts to the season, with Nick Swisher (.171), Jason Kipnis (.200) and Asdrubal Cabrera (.200) all struggling. Manager Terry Francona says it's too early to overreact to anything this early in the season, but the Tribe need these three bats to get hot so the offense will pick up with it.

Sure, it's just 10 games into the season, but the team is just 1-3 against the AL Central after losing two of three to the Twins and a loss Thursday to the White Sox. The team will play the AL Central in 11 of their next 14 games, including a series with the Tigers. If this team wants to compete, they have to be good against their division foes.
