The Minnesota Twins are not expected to return to playoff contention this year, but that does not mean they won’t be active in the trade market as the season goes on.
Here are five Twins that should be on the trade block between now and July’s trade deadline.
Florimon is being miscast as a starter when he should be a utility infielder, but if by some fluke he starts to hit some the Twins may find interest on the trade market.
Suzuki has been a productive player for the Twins so far this season (.318, six RBI), but if a contending team or two has interest in him general manager Terry Ryan would be hard-pressed not to listen to trade offers.
Pelfrey is not off to a good start this season, with a 7.84 ERA in his first two starts after a rough outing against Oakland on Thursday. The Twins are surely hoping he bolsters his trade value by starting to pitch better as the weather gets warmer.
The Twins made need to make room for a top pitching prospect or two before the season is over, and if Correia pitches solidly between now and the All-Star break a few contenders may have interest in him.
After an injury-plagued 2013 season, Willingham has already missed a few games after being hit in the wrist by a pitch. But if he can stay healthy and get on a hot streak, the Twins could get a solid return for him in a trade.
