Unlike the rookies in the National League, the American League bunch is really making some noise. Actually the guy ranked first in this top five list could also be considered a favorite among early MVP candidates. Each of these five could really win the award for the A.L. this year and it looks like they will squash the senior circuit in stats at this point.

In his first start of his official rookie season, Ventura went six strong innings giving up only two hits and zero runs. If he keeps this up he could surely get several votes for the top spot.

Bogaerts was on every single list of rookies expected to excel in 2014 because of what he did in the 2013 postseason. While he isn't blowing everyone away in the American League's rookie race, he certainly is in the running with a .290 average and five runs scored.

3 – Jackie Bradley – Boston Red Sox

Whether or not Bradley wins the award after the season, the Red Sox and their fans must be stoked to see him doing so well in replacing their former center fielder Jacoby Ellsbury. He has five runs scored and driven in along with an impressive .400 batting average so far.

2 – Nick Castellanos – Detroit Tigers

Only because his stats line includes one home run which is one more than Bradley or Bogaerts, Castellanos grabs the second spot on this list. He is doing more than an admirable job in taking over third for Miggy.

Abreu leads the league in RBI with 11 and has a home run to his credit at this point. No matter how good the other guys are doing, if Abreu does not slow down they will certainly need to pick their pace up if they hope to make this close. The season is young yet though.
