There seems to be more and more fans in Red Sox Nation who appear to be growing worried with how badly the Boston Red Sox have started. It almost is getting to the point where they are starting to press the panic button and suggesting some ridiculous ideas.
One of them is that Xander Bogaerts may not be ready to be in the everyday lineup. A lot of it is based on the fact that he just got his first run batted in of the season and that he made a throwing error at the end of a game against the Chicago White Sox. Some fans have even mentioned replacing him with Stephen Drew.
Now I see nothing wrong with putting Drew at shortstop and Bogaerts at third base. I said that all winter long. However, Bogaerts is a special talent and he is going to grow into a player that Boston fans will enjoy watching for a very long time. In the brief time that we saw him last year, he proved that he has incredible plate discipline and is mature beyond his years.
A lot of great players have had growing pains to start their careers and Bogaerts is no exception. Baseball is a game about adjustments and you can tell that Bogaerts has already started making those adjustments. He will be fine. Just please don’t replace him. That is going to do more damage than him making a few errors here and there.
Red Sox Nation, relax. Let’s see where Boston is in June and then decide if there is a reason to panic.
