The Brewers have been baseball's surprise team so far this season and that's thanks in large part to their great pitching depth. Most in the rotation have pitched effectively and the bullpen has been just as strong. Here are the early grades each starting pitcher and the bullpen as a whole have earned.

Record: 2-0
1.46 ERA
1.095 WHIP
19:7 strikeout-to-walk ratio

Gallardo is in a contract year in 2014 and he's pitching like he wants to get paid in the offseason. The ace of the Brewers' staff has been lights out so far this season. If he can continue his hot start through the rest of the season, the Brewers could surprise a lot of people and contend for a playoff spot.

Record: 2-1
3.05 ERA
1.113 WHIP
21:7 strikeout-to-walk ratio

Lohse has been in the league a while and he's really turned into a veteran starter. He's been solid this season, doing what's asked of him in order to rack up wins. That approach could go a long way in determining if the Brewers end up pretenders or contenders by season's end.

Record: 0-2
3.43 ERA
1.095 WHIP
17:4 strikeout-to-walk ratio

Probably the Brewers' most significant offseason acquisition, Garza has been solid to start the season. As the team's No. 3 starter, he has been above average. As long as he can stay healthy and consistent, he and the Brewers will be in good shape.

Record: 1-1
3.06 ERA
1.132 WHIP
15:6 strikeout-to-walk ratio

Estrada closed out the 2013 season on an absolute tear and he's trying to duplicate that this season. He's a very promising young pitcher who has managed to fly under the radar for the most part. If he keeps pitching effectively as he has been, that soon won't be the case.

Wily Peralta - A-

Record: 2-0
1.96 ERA
1.091 WHIP
13:5 strikeout-to-walk ratio

Peralta is touted as one of the Brewers' top young pitchers and he's living up to that billing this season. Only Gallardo has been better than him in Milwaukee and not by much. As the No. 5 starter, Peralta has given the Brewers' rotation some great depth.

The Brewers' bullpen, which had a lot of question marks going into 2014, now has a lot of answers. Good answers. Francisco Rodriguez is looking like he did when he was dominant with the Angels, which could make the Brewers legit. Collectively, the team is 6-for-7 in save opportunities and the bulk of the bullpen has looked very solid so far.
