The Rangers are perennial playoff contenders and it's largely because of their stellar hitting. If their pitching could match them, they would be among a handful of World Series favorites. So far this season, these are the grades their starting rotation and bullpen as a whole have earned.

Record: 0-1
9.82 ERA
1.909 WHIP
13:8 strikeout-to-walk ratio

Scheppers was supposed to step into the ace spot in the Rangers' rotation even though Yu Darvish is the team's best pitcher by most accounts. However, Scheppers has struggled mightily and was just placed on the DL. That's a major disappointment for the Rangers so far this season.

Record: 2-0
2.70 ERA
1.300 WHIP
12:6 strikeout-to-walk ratio

Where Scheppers has come up short this season, Perez has made up for it. Not a whole lot was expected out of him, but he's performed well so far this season. As a lefty to break up the rest of the rotation, the importance of his role on this team in unquestioned.

Record: 1-0
1.00 ERA
1.222 WHIP
13:8 strikeout-to-walk ratio

Ross has been another surprisingly effective south paw in the Texas rotation this season. He's started three games and has produced in every single one. Ross could be a real gem for this rotation as the season goes on.

Yu Darvish - A+

Record: 1-0
0.82 ERA
0.864 WHIP
23:4 strikeout-to-walk ratio

Darvish has been devastating so far this season. Even more so than before, Darvish is confusing opposing hitters and just making them look silly. He's been in the discussion the past couple years, but if he keeps pitching like he has so far this season, there's a good chance Darvish could claim his first career Cy Young award.

Record: 0-1
6.75 ERA
1.500 WHIP
4:0 strikeout-to-walk ratio

Lewis has only made one start so there's not a whole lot to look at right now, but he sure looked rusty in that lone start. With time, a clearer picture will be painted about where Lewis falls in terms of the Rangers' plans, but for now he has to put his bad start behind him and give consistent effort throughout the season.

Overall, the Rangers bullpen has been very average. They've gone 3-for-5 in save opportunities with Joakim Soria going 2-for-2. The better part of the bullpen has struggled, but hasn't cost the team too much in terms of wins yet. Only time will tell if that remains the case or if the shaky bullpen becomes a bigger problem.
