Yasiel Puig's treacherous and harrowing journey from Cuba to United States has all the elements of a Hollywood movie. And director Brett Ratner agrees. Ratner, through his company RatPac Entertainment, acquired the rights to Jesse Katz's article published in Los Angeles Magazine. Even though casting is a ways away, let's take a look at some potential candidates to play the Los Angeles Dodgers' polarizing outfielder.
The former All-American wrestler at Oklahoma certainly has the physique to play Puig. Parker is best known for his roles in "The Great Debaters" and the Liam Neeson action film "Non-Stop".
The talented 25-year-old New York native was terrific as Michael Lee in HBO's critically acclaimed drama series, "The Wire".
Another cast member of "The Wire", Michael B Jordan really turned heads in the 2013 heart-wrenching drama "Fruitvale Station". He will play The Human Torch in the upcoming "Fantastic Four" reboot.
He's already played one Dodger, captivating audiences as Jackie Robinson in the film "42". Boseman would be a natural candidate to play Puig.
He won us over as Booby Miles in the film "Friday Night Lights", and Derek Luke continues to have a tremendous career. He starred in "Notorious" and "Captain America: The First Avenger". He probably has the closest resemblance to Puig among the candidates, even though he's 40 years old -- nothing a little makeup can't fix.
