What The Boston Red Sox Need To Do Differently

The Boston Red Sox have been looking a little inconsistent for the first couple of months of the season. Normally that would bury a team, especially in the competitive Eastern Division of the MLB. Yet Boston is currently only a half game out of first place and just two wins off their mark from last season. No one else has taken the division and ran away with it and that is a huge reason why Boston is still very much in contention.

The Red Sox need to do some things differently in order to stay in the thick of things and make a serious run. One of the big things is getting Felix Doubront and Clay Buchholz back on track. Neither one of them have pitched consistently although Doubront did well against the Minnesota Twins. One huge strength that Boston has is their starting pitching. They need all five of their hurlers to be pitching well.

I have said this again and again and again, but I feel very strongly that the key to Boston being such a dangerous team last year was their team speed. It gave them a unique element that could manufacture quite a few runs. Boston needs to go out and get a speedster. Whether or not that person starts or is on the bench doesn’t really matter. They just need that one guy who can steal some bases when it matters.

Staying healthy is also going to be huge for Boston. Their other competitors are hurting and Boston needs to capitalize on that right now.

This could be a really exciting pennant race to watch and I would love to see Boston on top yet again. Not that I am biased.
