Atlanta Braves are Still Fighting for First Place: Be Amazed

Every MLB team goes through trouble and hardship and clearly the Atlanta Braves are no exception. They lost two great starters who were expected to be team leaders from the mound in Kris Medlen and Brandon Beachy right off the bat. When the season started they then began to stink on offense and yet through it all they remain in first place or at least close to it; depending on when you read this.

This is nothing short of amazing. I don’t even know who deserves credit. For sure Fredi Gonzalez is doing a decent job of shifting things around and trying to make things happen. Lately the offense has been slightly better while the pitching has been the side that struggles. Repeatedly they cannot put it all together but they are still hanging around in the lead. How is this possible?

The best answer is that they are actually a very good team. They seem to be good enough to still play roughly .500 baseball while they are not nearly playing at their best. This should be encouraging through the tough times. It isn’t easy to watch them right now and that is understandable but it will improve.

It is inevitable that their pitching will level off and be at least as good as some of the best in the game three out of five games started. The offense is probably not going to be the best of the best but they should be at least a tad better than they are right now. When all of these things come together at the right time is when you will see the next double-digit game winning streak from them. If the Washington Nationals and Miami Marlins and the rest are not in front of the Braves by then, they will wish they were.

Cubs and Braves Should Make This Blockbuster Trade

The Chicago Cubs and Atlanta Braves can both accomplish what they are currently trying to accomplish with this trade. The Cubs continue to build towards winning a World Series, while the Braves continue to build towards a strong future by stock piling prospects. Win-Win.
