Atlanta Braves Should be Pleased With Split vs Colorado Rockies

With another tough loss against the Colorado Rockies, the Atlanta Braves not only fell to a series split with the mile-high team but also missed a chance to pull even with the Washington Nationals in the N.L. East. While this could seem like a bad thing, the series split in Colorado was actually a very good thing. Some good stuff happened and if you think of it, the only bad things that really happened were to the pitching staff. Bad days for pitchers are far from rare at Coors Field.

Chances are that the Braves will actually hit their big Father’s Day weekend series with the Los Angeles Angels playing better than it appears they are playing. Historically the Braves have trouble in Colorado and the way they played this time around showed plenty of fight and ability to win baseball games. Sure, they are in second place but that is certainly not a season killer. Actually the season might be ultimately saved by the stretch that has seen them fall out of the top spot.

If the Braves hit the weekend series playing well, they could end up with their first win in inter-league play in 2014. The Angels are playing well and it seems like coming off of a series split with the Rockies could lead them to struggle over the weekend. Going back home however and playing with an offense that is looking better and better, don’t be surprised if they win two of three from the Angels and are tied for first at least by the end of the weekend.
