Tony Gwynn Jr.'s Twitter Message Shows Just How Amazing His Father Was

By Dan Parzych

No matter what your favorite team is, there’s no question every baseball fan had nothing but respect for former San Diego Padres outfielder Tony Gwynn–who passed away on Monday from cancer at the age of 54. Gwynn’s legacy will always be remembered by baseball fans as he recorded 3,141 hits throughout his career to go along with a .338 batting average and shortly after the news of his passing–Gwynn’s son posted a message on Twitter showed us just how amazing of an individual his father really was.

Tony Gwynn Jr. is currently a centerfielder for the Philadelphia Phillies and the words he used to describe his relationship with his father were absolutely perfect. We’ve seen a lot of amazing baseball players over the years, but it’s difficult to find a player who made as much of an impact as Gwynn considering everything he did for the Padres during his 20 seasons with the team.

Baseball lost one of their all-time greats too soon on Monday and our thoughts and prayers go out to Tony’s Gwynn Jr. and the rest of his family during this difficult time.
