The Indians were not the most active team in free agency during the offseason by any means, but they did have a number of key pickups that have contributed to the club in 2014. Some have been good, some average and some just bad. Today we look at some of those players and grade them as we take a look at how they have performed.

Axford started the season red-hot, saving nine games right away. But then the speed bumps started with a loss to Chicago on the road during a save situation, and then back-to-back in Cleveland he lost a game and then gave up a run to suffer a loss in another. Out of the closer role, Axford hasn't been on the mound much, and there's no indication if he will get chances to close games again. GRADE: C-

"T-Plush" as he's known, was having a tremendous season for the Indians until he suffered a knee injury and is on the 60-day DL. Before going on the DL, Morgan was hitting .341 with a homer, six RBI and three steals. He added energy to the lineup and his teammates loved what he brought in the 33 games he appeared with the Indians. GRADE: B+

Atchison has been a solid surprise for the Indians, going 3-0 with a 2.93 ERA in 30 games. The 38-year-old journeyman pitcher has been all over baseball, but has found a home in Cleveland in 2014 and is having a very good season helping out the pen for the Tribe. GRADE: B

2. Josh Outman

The end came quickly for Outman, who was acquired for Drew Stubbs from Colorado, and was supposed to be the second lefty in the pen. Instead, he wasn't very good, and was given the dreaded DFA after a bad outing on Tuesday night. On the year, Outman was 4-0 with a 3.28 ERA, but in his last 6.1 innings, he's given up four runs, seven hits, four walks, five K's and three homers. Overall a trade the Indians lost. GRADE: D

1. David Murphy

Murphy has been a huge asset to the Indians, playing RF in 67 games, and he's played well after a slow first week of the year. He's hitting .266 with 15 doubles, a triple, five HR's and 38 RBI. He's been good in the outfield as well, and his numbers at the plate with runners in scoring position are tremendous. A good clubhouse guy, and the best offseason pickup for the Indians in 2014.
