The Toronto Blue Jays are off to a fantastic start in 2014. We've learned a lot about this team thus far. Let's take a look at five of them as the Jays continue their playoff push.
The Blue Jays can seriously knock one out of the park. They're ranked first in the majors in the home run department. With 108 on the season, they're 10 above the next in line, the Colorado Rockies.
While Janssen was on the DL, the Blue Jays' ninth-inning role was not a thing of beauty. Five pitchers in the bullpen have saves. That should tell you enough. Janssen has been near-perfect since returning to the team.
With a team ERA of 4.09, the Blue Jays would be wise to try and add an elite starting pitcher to the mix by the deadline. Besides Mark Buehrle, no starter is doing exceptionally well. Imagine this team with a solidified No. 1 and No. 2 starter?
But really, where would this rotation be without Buehrle? With a 10-5 record and a 2.50 ERA, the Blue Jays should be thanking Buehrle time and time again. He's been one of the biggest surprises not only for the Blue Jays, but for the entire league.
After only hitting two home runs the entire month of April, Encarnacion hit an unbelievable 16 in May. Proving everyone wrong about him having an off year, he's currently up to 25 on the season. There's no stopping the slugger.
