If the Cardinals are shopping Oscar Taveras, the team should probably stop. Big power bats do not come by often anymore and for the trade winds to be swirling around Taveras is a bit of a joke. St. Louis needs to keep Taveras, but he keeps popping up on the rumor radar.

The Cardinals are looking for a complement to Matt Carpenter in the infield. A veteran second baseman or third baseman would be added to the lineup. Carpenter would play the opposite position of who the Cardinals acquire.

David Price has the ability to be traded this month. The Cardinals could be a landing spot if the team does want to part ways with a top prospect like Oscar Taveras, Kolten Wong or Carlos Martinez. The Rays will get a hefty load for Price, no doubt about that.

The Cardinals are down two pitchers right now and although Lance Lynn and Shelby Miller are more than capable of handling the load, a nice veteran complement will probably be added. St. Louis is on hot pursuit of Red Sox RHP Jake Peavy. However, whoever the Red Sox want in return may push St. Louis away.

The injury to Michael Wacha is devastating to the Cardinals' rotation. An MRI on his throwing shoulder has showed progress, but not enough for him to throw right now. A stress fracture does take time to heal and it looks like Wacha will have to wait even longer to help St. Louis back to the World Series.
