Although the move may not be made right away, the Nationals have big-league ready prospects like Sandy Leon, Zach Walters and Steven Souza. If Washington gets into a bit of a pickle down the stretch, one of these fine prospects will be packing their bags.

Since Ryan Zimmerman does not want to move back to the infield, there might not be any room for Denard Span. Washington could look to move him by the deadline. However, for now, Zimmerman is stuck playing third base.

Because of Washington's deep rotation, Ross Detwiler does not have a spot in it. Detwiler is out of minor league options, which means he could get the boot. Detwiler could start on most teams in the majors and there are teams (i.e. Yankees) that could use another starter.

Two bombshells broke out of the Nationals' camp Tuesday and one had to do with Jordan Zimmermann. Zimmermann was mentioned as a potential trade chip for Washington. The Nats are not going to ship him in the thick of a division race, but if Washington should falter severely in the next week or two, Zimmermann could be dealt.

The other bombshell was about Ian Desmond. The Nationals are 'actively pursuing' young infielders to replace Desmond if and when he does leave Washington. Desmond turned down a big money deal from Washington opting for a shorter extension. Like Zimmermann, Desmond is not going to get traded in the thick of a division race, but who knows where the Nats are going to be by July 31.
