Thus far, the Chicago Cubs have made the biggest trade of the season and continue to build their stable of young talent. While the big club may be struggling, the prospects continue to develop and are close to knocking at the door. With eight of the top-100, and four of the top-35 prospects, a case could start to be made for the Cubs becoming the new "Moneyball" team. Here are five prospects who could receive the call by August.

5. Addison Russell

Addison Russell is the new kid within the stable of talent. He was acquired from Oakland in the Jeff Samardzija, Jason Hammel deal. Shortly, Chicago will give Arismendy Alcantara a brief look on the big club. By August, the Cubs may also do the same with Russel to see what exactly they have in the young prospect that they gave up a lot for, but a move that could also provide great returns down the road.

4. Kyle Hendricks

With two-fifths of the starting rotation now moved for the third straight year, the Cubs will now start to have a revolving door on the rotation. A lot of guys will get strong looks to potentially contend for a future starting spot. Kyle Hendricks could be one of those young guys that will get a look. Hendricks threw the ball well during spring training, and hopefully that will continue when the games count for real.

3. Dallas Beeler

Dallas Beeler is another young arm that will get a look within the rotation. He has already made his big-league debut and will now start to see a few more starting chances thanks to the deals that have been done. There is talks that Beeler just may be one of the guys capable of being a long-term piece among the starting rotation. His second-half development will play a good role in that process.

2. Javier Baez

For the fans, these highly-touted prospects would like to be seen at Wrigley Field much sooner than later. They would like to see these guys ultimately get called up to see what they have, and to start to put the future into motion for once. Javier Baez is No. 1A on this list. His bat speed is incredible, and his contact is so violent off of the bat. Baez has light-tower power and it just may eventually make its way toward Chicago come August.

1. Kris Bryant

Kris Bryant seemingly can do no wrong out on a baseball field. He has hit at every level of his career, and is currently lapping the field in minor-league home runs. It may be unlikely, but Bryant just may fast-track toward the big leagues before the season is over. He's a rising star just waiting for the call to showcase his talents in Chicago. Bryant would be a call up that the fans would certainly be behind and get excited over when it's time.
