Baseball is a tricky sport; after all, no other game can replicate the season longevity of MLB. For the Cincinnati Reds, the first half of the season was proof of the ultimate highs and lows that are obtainable throughout the year. Sitting just a game and a half out of first place, the Reds will look to put together a strong second half to make the 2014 playoffs.

Let's look at each individual series in the second half and predict the outcome.

The Reds have 13 games remaining through the end of the month as they look to continue their strong play leading up to the All-Star break. Despite injuries, the remaining games in July are favorable to the Reds.

August will be an interesting month for the Cincinnati Reds as they will only have two days off -- playing 17 games in a row followed by 13 games in a row. However, of those 29 games, they will only face three teams with above .500 records (STL, ATL and PIT). The Reds could take control of their season with a strong August.

Unlike August, September will be a harder road to travel for the Reds. Of their eight series, six of them will come against teams with a record above .500 currently. Looking to end the season strong, the Reds will close out the year playing 19 straight games against NL Central opponents -- games that will surely decide the fate of the division.

Despite injuries, I have the Reds ending the season with a record of 89 wins and 73 losses -- quite impressive given all of the circumstances surrounding the team in 2014. However, the question becomes whether or not 89 wins will be enough to win the NL Central.

Final Standings
STL: 90-72 (38-28 second half); CIN: 89-73 (38-29); MIL: 88-74 (35-31); PIT: 83-79 (34-33)
