Trade rumors are swirling around the Rays' Ben Zobrist, as many teams are looking to significantly improve their playoff chances at the trade deadline. Zobrist is as versatile defensively as they come, and he's solid offensively as well. A team on the outside looking in could trade for Zobrist and become a legitimate playoff contender down the stretch in 2014.

The Reds now have a hole at second base, and Zobrist could be the perfect fix to the team's problems. Even when Brandon Phillips returns, Zobrist is capable of playing in the outfield everyday. He would be a welcome addition to a Cincinnati lineup that has struggled offensively so far in 2014, and the addition of Zobrist could push the Reds to the top of the NL Central.

If Zobrist ends up in Seattle, he could play shortstop, outfield or even first base. The Mariners have a plethora of young infield talent, including current shortstop Brad Miller. Seattle is still alive and well in the playoff race, and the addition of Zobrist could extend Seattle's season into October. It won't be cheap, but trading for Zobrist could prove to be a beneficial move for the Mariners in 2014.

The Dodgers have had an injury-plagued season, but Ben Zobrist could be just what the doctor ordered for Los Angeles in the second half. In addition to his defensive versatility, the 33-year old Zobrist would provide the offensive spark the Dodgers desperately need. L.A. is just a game ahead of San Francisco in the NL West, and Zobrist could help the Dodgers create some separation in the playoff race.

Zobrist would be a welcome addition in all phases of the game for the Giants, who could use fielding relief as well as a steady bat. San Francisco could plug Zobrist just about anywhere on the field defensively, providing depth the Giants desperately need. Tampa will undoubtedly make the Giants pay, but San Francisco has shown the willingness to deal top prospects before. Zobrist moving to the Bay Area makes a lot of sense.

Eugenio Suarez has been a solid fill-in for the Tigers at shortstop, but Detroit needs Ben Zobrist. He is capable of not only playing shortstop, but playing the corner outfield positions as well. He is a terrific hitter that would fit capably in the five spot in the Tigers' everyday lineup, and he would make Detroit one of the favorites to win the World Series. If the Tigers have valuable prospects that Tampa wants, they could deal Zobrist.
