There have been several trade rumors regarding Phillies ace Cliff Lee in recent days. Philadelphia could undoubtedly land a slew of top prospects in return for Lee, but the team has yet to seriously engage in discussions with any team. This list is purely speculative, but here are five teams that Lee would fit well with if he was moved before the trade deadline.

There were rumors that the NL West leaders were interested in Lee, but the team will have to make major decisions regarding its future in order to land the Phillies' ace. The asking price for such an established pitcher will always be high, and Lee is still owed a large sum of money. A 1-2-3 punch of Clayton Kershaw, Zack Greinke and Lee would be incredibly formidable, but the Dodgers probably won't give up what few top prospects they have.

The Mariners have reportedly shown a high level of interest in Tampa Bay Rays' David Price, so it isn't entirely unlikely that Lee could go back to Seattle. The Mariners have the prospects necessary to get the deal done, and adding Cliff Lee to the likes of Felix Hernandez and Hisashi Iwakuma is an attractive option for Seattle. It may not seem likely, but it makes sense for Seattle to try to land another ace before the deadline.

The Blue Jays would love to have a No. 1 starter to push them over the top in the AL East. Toronto has all the necessary prospects to get a deal done with Philadelphia, so this is another trade situation that makes a lot of sense. The Jays could potentially include Marcus Stroman in a package deal with another top prospect, an offer that would make the Phillies think hard about dealing Lee.

2. St. Louis Cardinals

The Cardinals are one of the contenders in the market for starting pitching, and their starting rotation hasn't been great after Adam Wainwright and Lance Lynn. Philadelphia needs quality outfielders and young pitching, something that is plentiful in St. Louis' farm system, making the teams potential trade partners. A Cardinals' playoff rotation headed by Wainwright and Lee would make the team a force in October.

The Yankees are known for spending major cash at the deadline when they're in contention in the AL East, and New York desperately needs starting pitching. C.C. Sabathia is out for the season, Ivan Nova had Tommy John surgery and Michael Pineda has had an injury-plagued year. Lee would be an ideal fit for the Yankees, so there's definitely a chance the Phillies' starter could be on his way to the Bronx before the deadline.
