Bartolo Colon may occasionally tip the scales, but he still wins ballgames. He nearly threw a perfect game on Wednesday. He has had such a solid season for the New York Mets that other teams would love to borrow him for the stretch run to give a boost. Let's take a look at five potential landing spots for Colon by the July 31 deadline, assuming he does not stay with the Mets.

The Orioles would love to grab Colon. Baltimore can give Colon a solid lineup for protection, and the best part is it keeps Colon away from the New York Yankees. Baltimore could use another pitcher to anchor the rotation and make a run at the AL East title.

Would the Yankees make another run at Colon? Of course they would. Any pitcher with a solid record draws the Yankees' interest, especially with the rotation in shambles. Michael Pineda is still on the disabled list and CC Sabathia and Ivan Nova have undergone surgeries. The Yankees need a strong pitcher for the stretch run.

3. Los Angeles Angels

The Oakland Athletics have made a move to acquire high profile pitching already with Jeff Samardzija and Jason Hammel, so the Angels could make a run at Colon and have another starter ready to go. With C.J. Wilson's health not the best, the Angels could use another top starter to keep pace with Oakland and the Seattle Mariners.

2. Pittsburgh Pirates

Assuming the Cincinnati Reds and St. Louis Cardinals don't make a run at Colon and the Pirates can't land A.J. Burnett, they could try for Colon. His contract calls for an $ 11 million option in 2015, which Pittsburgh could definitely account for in its payroll. It's not a likely landing spot, but don't discount anything these days.

The Giants have inquired about Colon, and it should be no surprise if he's dealt there. Injuries to Matt Cain have derailed the Giants' pitching staff, and Colon would be a solid pickup for San Francisco as it tries to keep pace with the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League West.
