Addison Russell was acquired by the Chicago Cubs on the Fourth of July this season, and made the Cubs the best farm system in all of baseball. He joins a loaded infield system and there are plenty of things fans should know about him before he makes his way to Wrigley Field.

While plenty of players have changed teams before the trade deadline, Russell was the most highly-touted prospect to switch teams this season. Before the season, he was the No. 4 ranked prospect in all of baseball, and now he gives the Cubs three of the top six prospects in the game.

Of all the Cubs' infield prospects, Russell is the most natural shortstop. For that reason, he could move current shortstop Starlin Castro from his position eventually. Nobody knows what that could mean for the rest of the team, but one logical move would be moving Castro to 3B and Kris Bryant to a corner outfield spot.

Even though Russell is one of the team's top prospects, he's unlikely to be on the team come Opening Day next season. He's still young and has plenty of room for improvement, so if the team's impressed with his progress, he could be up by midseason.

While still in the Athletics system, Russell suffered a torn hamstring earlier this season and missed a large chunk of the year. Since he hasn't played in the high levels of the minor leagues yet, it could still be about a year until Russell sees some big league time.
