With the 2014 MLB season winding down and playoff races capturing most people's attention, it is easy to forget about prospects. The Pittsburgh Pirates have one of the most outstanding farm systems in baseball and their top prospects are all playing. Here is a stock update for the Pirates' top five prospects.

5. Alen Hanson

Alen Hanson has been a top prospect in the Pirates' system for a few years now. He currently made a position change to second base in anticipation of an upcoming call up to Pittsburgh in the next year. Hanson does come with concerns, especially with his lack of hustle and recent suspensions in double-A Altoona. Many in the organization don't look at him the same now as they did in the past and that is why his stock is down.

Austin Meadows was a first-round pick of the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 2013 draft and impressed a lot of people in his short time playing last season. Meadows has battled quite a few injuries this season, but is now healthy and hitting very well in low-A West Virginia. Because he is back healthy and hitting like the top prospect that he is, Meadows' stock seems to be trending upwards.

3. Jameson Taillon

Jameson Taillon was the Pirates' consensus No. 2 prospect coming into this season behind Gregory Polanco. Unfortunately, Taillon had to undergo Tommy John surgery after spring training and is missing the rest of this baseball season. Taillon recently began his rehab, playing catch and throwing the ball around in Bradenton, but because of the injury, Taillon's stock is definitely on the downside.

2. Josh Bell

Josh Bell has been overlooked as a prospect for many years now because he has been injured and was overshadowed by other outfielders in the Pirates' system. But this year, Bell has shined, dominating high-A Bradenton and earning a promotion to double-A Altoona. He also played in the Futures Game this year. Bell looks like he will be the Pirates' first baseman of the future if he continues to hit at a great clip. His stock is rising fast.

1. Tyler Glasnow

Tyler Glasnow has emerged as the best prospect in the Pirates' system this season. He is a big, young starting pitcher that puts up ridiculous strikeout numbers in high-A Bradenton. The biggest knock on Glasnow has been his control. He walks a lot of batters, but this season Glasnow has steadily improved his walk rate. Glasnow's stock is rising at an exponential rate, and if he can control his walks, it will only continue to rise.
