New York Yankees Must Ride Momentum
Winners of four games in a row, the New York Yankees must continue to develop the momentum they have built and and use it to their advantage as they are in the middle of the end-of-season stretch.
The team is playing 38 games over the course of 39 days, and though it is surprising that the Yankees find themselves in the playoff chase with their -34 run differential, they will have to find ways to get it done even with the injuries they have been hit with this season. It goes without saying that the team is feeling pressure to make the playoffs as the Yankees have not missed the playoffs in consecutive seasons since 1993.
The starting pitching has been throwing well lately, and that gives the lineup a chance to produce runs. The Yankees are realistically out of the AL East race, but finding themselves 3.5 games out of the second Wild Card, so they must continue to get timely hitting and great pitching from everybody.
It is stressful to see the team give up early leads and the offense having the comebacks late in games, but at least the team is getting it done. The Yankees have to ride out this momentum as they get ready to play eight series against five teams all looking for the same thing: the playoffs.
