New York Yankees-Toronto Blue Jays Series Will Make Or Break Playoff Hopes
The Toronto Blue Jays play host to division rival New York Yankees for a three-game series. Both teams are considered to be part of the Wild Card chase, but one team could be saying goodbye to their chances after this weekend.
The Yankees have a slight advantage in the standings being only three games out of the Wild Card, but the Blue Jays are not far behind at 5.5 games back. This series is huge for both teams. The Yankees could distance the Jays from the race and send thoughts of the season being done to their fanbase, but the Jays could climb in the standings and make the race even more interesting between the five teams looking to claim one spot.
Both teams have been playing roughly .500 baseball in their last 10 games, and as division foes, each would love to hurt one the others chances of getting into the playoffs with a series win or sweep. It is safe to say that both teams had high expectations for themselves but got hit by the injury bug and are now settling for a potential one game play-in as the Baltimore Orioles have a safe seven-game lead over the second-place Yankees in the AL East.
A lot is at stake for each team this weekend, and it should be a lot of fun to see who capitalizes on opportunity to gain ground in what is shaping up to be one exciting Wild Card race.
