The entire 2014 season has been a series of ups and downs for the Atlanta Braves. It seems that the coaching staff, front office and the players themselves are hopeless to figure out exactly why. In the end the Braves will be at the mercy of a few other teams going down the stretch. How will the final month shake out? Here are 5 predictions for the Braves during the month of September. The number 1 prediction is sure to surprise a few.

5 – B.J. Upton to Receive Less Playing Time

This one is a gimme actually so we should just get it out of the way. With the added options about to arrive, there is no reason not to see Upton sit down some over the final month of the season.

Evan Gattis is a good catcher, especially on the offensive side, but Bethancourt is the future of Braves catchers. With the September call-up, expect Bethancourt to receive much more time behind the plate than he got during last season's call-up. This could also lead to Gattis playing left field now and then.

3 – Mike Minor Continues Dominance

Look for the much improved performance of Mike Minor to continue for the remainder of the season. This could lead to the Braves having a load of trade value with him and potentially Gattis in a big offseason trade. Of course they might have a problem getting rid of Minor after a dominant month.

This Upton brother is anything but cooling off as the season winds to a close. Expect him to surge forward with a ton of home runs and RBI. By the time the season is over, win or lose for the Braves, Upton's stock will have risen through the roof.

This is a tough one for any Braves fan, but it happens all the time to other teams. The string of 14 straight titles is never going to happen again. The Nats have a better team and unless they fall apart, they will have the division in hand. The Wildcard is just too crazy to plan on winning. In the end the Braves should have a good run but come up just short.
