Every season, there is a great crop of MLB free agents who will get paid a ton of money. This year is no different. Here are the 15 best potential free agents of the upcoming offseason.

15. Josh Beckett

For the first time in a long time, Josh Beckett looked like the guy who won World Series. After 20 starts, his 2.88 ERA was the best of his career. Unfortunately, he got hurt again. If the rumors of possible retirement aren't true, there will be some teams willing to take a flyer on Beckett.

Hiroki Kuroda is literally the only New York Yankees pitcher who hasn't been lost for most of the season (assuming Masahiro Tanaka's latest setback ends his). If he doesn't retire or play in Japan, he will be sought after by a team looking for a consistent veteran.

13. Ervin Santana

Ervin Santana had to wait until the Atlanta Braves' starting pitching fell apart before he got the contract he wanted. I have a feeling he won't have to wait as long this time.

12. Torii Hunter

Torii Hunter has gone from one of the best defenders in baseball to one of the worst, but he still has a lot to bring to a MLB team. He has decent power and can still hit around .275. He will likely re-sign with the Tigers.

11. Victor Martinez

Victor Martinez came out of nowhere to become one of the best hitters in all of baseball. He missed all of last year, but showed he still had plenty left in the tank. Someone will easily give him big deal.

Jorge De La Rosa is the only pitcher worthy of mention on the Colorado Rockies. He has a winning record playing for a terrible team. That may change after this year.

9. Pablo Sandoval

Kung Fu Panda is not at the height of his popularity, but he is still a big-money player. The Giants should do what they can to re-sign him, but if they can't, he will get paid. The market isn't exactly stacked with infielders.

8. Michael Cuddyer

It has been a rough year for Michael Cuddyer. He has been on the disabled list four different times. That will hurt his value, but this is still a guy who won the batting title last season. Despite being 35 years old, he still has plenty left in the tank.

7. Nelson Cruz

After being on the Biogenesis list last season, Nelson Cruz has spent all season showing that he can put up the same numbers without help. He is carrying the Baltimore Orioles to a division title. If the O's don't come to a deal with him, he will get the deal he thought he was going to get.

6. Melky Cabrera

Melky Cabrera is another Biogenesis player who has shown it wasn't all steroids and HGH that made his career. His combination of power and speed is something every team could use.

5. David Robertson

David Robertson is one of the only closers whose contract is up without the player falling off. You look at players like Sergio Romo, and you can appreciate Robertson more. The Yankees can't let him get to the open market because then they will have to break the bank.

4. James Shields

Big Game James is going to be in line for a huge contract. The 32-year-old is putting together another huge season for Kansas City. He hasn't had a bad season since 2010. He may try his luck in the NL after having to take on the big lineups of the AL East and AL Central.

It was starting to look like Jon Lester was on the downhill of his stellar career. Then this season happened. He has been so good, the Oakland A's traded Yoenis Cespedes just to rent him. If he doesn't re-sign with Oakland, look for him to go back east.

2. Hanley Ramirez

If he is healthy, Hanley Ramirez is a perennial MVP candidate. That is a big "if." Either way, he will get a big deal this offseason.

1. Max Scherzer

Year in and year out, Max Scherzer has been a Cy Young candidate. He is carrying a rotation that is seeing Justin Verlander's worst season ever. The Tigers should come to an agreement with the righty, but if they don't, Scherzer could get top-of-the-market money somewhere else.
