MLB Atlanta Braves

Getting Swept by Texas Rangers Low Point of Season for Atlanta Braves

Sometimes it would be really nice to hear a bit of honesty from one of the players interviewed by reporters after an Atlanta Braves game. All we have heard so far is that the team needs to play better, they have to pick it up now, they can’t keep struggling like this or maybe that every team struggles from time-to-time. Right, whatever helps you sleep at night Braves’ players. The truth of the matter is not everyone goes through getting swept by the Texas Rangers.

The Braves are only the second team all season to get swept by the Rangers. As bad as that is, consider that the first sweep by Texas was back in April before things got really bad for the boys in Arlington. Credit should go to the Rangers for playing well in the series, but if we are honest about this, every team has been playing well against the Braves lately.

Facts are facts and the reality of this situation is that every pitcher looks like Clayton Kershaw when facing the Braves and every offense looks like the Los Angeles Angels when facing the Braves. It should be no surprise to anyone watching the team or playing on the team that they are four games out of the second wildcard spot because they are playing like the worst team in MLB.

Sure, they have a 10-game homestand coming up but playing at home isn’t going to help this situation one bit. They could win out and still would likely not scare the wildcard race into glancing in their direction. All of the bad vibes about this team just got a lot worse after this sweep. Anything could happen, but I wouldn’t give a gold nickel for their chances against the Washington Nationals in the upcoming series.
