The White Sox will be extremely active this winter after shedding over million in payroll since the start of the season. The team improved 10 games over last season's record but still has many positions to improve upon. One position, second base, will be filled in house by Micah Johnson, Carlos Sanchez or Marcus Semien. These are the five biggest needs for the South Siders.

Flowers can be a serviceable catcher, but it is a position that is due for an upgrade. Flowers batted .241, but hovered around .200 for a long stretch of the season and only hit 15 home runs. If the position is addressed, it will be through free agency or via trade.

With Adam Eaton and Avisail Garcia holding down center field and right field, left field is a great position of need with Alejandro De Aza gone and Dayan Viciedo unlikely to return.

With Chris Sale, Jose Quintana and likely Carlos Rodon -- all of whom are left-handers -- the Sox will need a middle-of-the-rotation right-handed pitcher.

Arguably Chicago's biggest need this offseason, the bullpen is in need of major help after frequently blowing leads and not being able to settle in on a closer. It is an area in need of veteran help after having a very young bullpen in 2014.

Designated hitter is the biggest hole in the Sox lineup and will likely be filled by a left-handed power bat. One potential target may be switch-hitter Victor Martinez.
