The Baltimore Orioles and Kansas City Royals have waited a long time to appear in the American League Championship Series. Unfortunately, it appears they might have to wait a bit longer.

Despite the fact Game 1 is scheduled for Friday night at Camden Yards, rain is expected to be a factor, which means the contest could very likely be moved to Saturday.

According to weather.com, there is a 50 percent chance of showers at 7:00 p.m. EST in Baltimore, with the chances of rain increasing to 60 percent once 9:00 p.m. EST rolls around. Considering the game is scheduled to be played at 8:07 p.m. EST, it is quite possible that the contest could get a rain delay. Even more likely is it getting rained out since there will be showers in the area all afternoon and into the night.

I have to imagine Major League Baseball wants to give Game 1 every chance to be played on its scheduled date. With that said, the league has been known in the past few years to move rainy games in the postseason to another day instead of postponing them for the simple reason that they do not want to deal with rain delays that could last several hours. It certainly makes sense to do that, which is why the fans and players should prepare themselves to not have any baseball Friday night.

The good news for Orioles and Royals fans is that the change in dates would allow them to watch their teams compete for three consecutive days.

In the case of a rain out, Game 1 will be moved to Saturday, Game 2 will then be played Sunday and Game 3 will stay put on Monday.
