Kansas City Royals’ Alex Gordon Gets HBP In Neck, Hits Clutch HR In Next AB

Alex Gordon had himself one interesting game in the 2014 ALCS opener. After getting hit by a 97-mph fastball in the neck during the 8th inning, the OF’s night was temporarily in question. But he shook it off and stayed in the game. His toughness paid off in the 10th inning when he connected on a tiebreaking HR:

Gordon’s bomb broke the 5-5 tie and put the Kansas City Royals in front, but Mike Moustakas added another two-run shot for good measure later in the 10th. Moustakas’ HR ended up being the game-winner, as the Orioles scored a run in the bottom of the inning.
