San Francisco Opens up Game 4 in the 7th, Momentum Shifts in Giants’ Favor With W

San Francisco Giants

Christopher Hanewinckel-USA TODAY Sports

The Kansas City Royals struck first in Game 4 of the World Series, but it was the San Francisco Giants who struck the most, winning by the score of 11-4. In the process, the Giants tied up the series at two games apiece. It is still anyone’s series to win, but San Fran, without a doubt, has the momentum going into Game 5.

Give the Giants’ hitters all the credit in the world, but the Royals’ bullpen gave up way too many runs. Kansas City can kiss the World Series goodbye if the bleeding in the later innings continues. Not to mention, if the Royals can’t match the Giants blow for blow.

Although San Francisco has the momentum, the series will go back to Kansas City after Game 5, which is great news for, well, Kansas City. The Royals have managed to shock the baseball world by making it this far, but their business is not finished until they are crowned world champs.

Having the fans on your side in any sport is a huge momentum booster. However, striking first in Game 5 will be crucial for both teams.

Coming into the year, if I were to tell you that the Giants and Royals would be all tied up at two entering Game 5 of the World Series, I am sure you would think I was crazy. Well, don’t look now, but that is exactly the case.

Winning Game 5, for either team, will be huge to say the least. But gaining the momentum back early by scoring first will also be huge for Kansas City, especially on the road.
