For a majority of the season, the Milwaukee Brewers looked like they were one of the best team's in the National League, but a late season collapse left them on the outside looking in as the playoffs began. The team failed to do little things right over the final months and paid for it dearly. After watching a World Series with two teams that seemingly do everything right, here are five things the Brewers can learn heading into 2015.

The Kansas City Royals' outfield is where baseballs go to die. In three games in San Francisco, Ned Yost started Jarrod Dyson to have is best defenders on the field. With two Gold Glove winning outfielders in Gerardo Parra and Carlso Gomez on the roster, the Brewers need to do what they can to have them on the field together.

When the Brewers are scoring runs, they are hitting home runs, but that type of baseball doesn't often win in October. The Royals were last in the league in homers, yet they continually found ways to claw out runs. All too often the Brewers are all or nothing at the plate as they end up striking out with runners on base. Throughout October, both teams in the Series made productive outs to help advance runners and drive them in.

The 2011 Brewers were unbeatable late, and both the San Francisco Giants and Royals are the same now. The Brewers have plenty of talented arms in the bullpen, and with the return of Jim Henderson and Tyler Thornburg and continued growth of Jeremy Jeffress, they could soon be a force as well.

You can never have enough runs in baseball. During blowouts in Game 5 and Game 6, both teams added on runs after taking the lead. All too often the Brewers have failed opportunities in games come back to bite them late. If they hope to become elite, they need to start cashing in on their opportunities.

The Brewers have speed, but all too often they are thrown out because of boneheaded mistakes. The Giants and Royals are also aggressive, but they force defenses to make plays and don't consistently run into easy outs. They tag up, round bases hard, and advance on overthrows. While the Brewers need to continue to look for the extra base, doing it smarter can put just as much pressure on a defense.
