The Washington Nationals returned to the postseason in 2014 and will head into the offseason looking to add to an already balanced lineup. Before that happens, however, the Nationals will need to trim some of the fat off of last year's roster. With that in mind, here are five players who won't be back in Washington in 2015.

Outfielder Scott Hairston played sparingly for the Nationals in 2014. The 34-year-old hit just .208 with one home run and eight RBIs. The Nationals will likely move on from the veteran journeyman.

4. RF Nate Schierholtz

Nate Schierholtz was an effective fourth outfielder for the Nationals after being acquired from the Chicago Cubs for the stretch run. The team may try and bring him back, but with Nate McLouth already on the roster, re-signing Schierholtz will not be a priority.

3. SS Asdrubal Cabrera

Shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera was acquired at the trade deadline in a deal with the Cleveland Indians. Cabrera has said publicly that he would love to stay in Washington, but the 28-year-old is coming off a down year and would again be forced to play out of position at second base.

2. 1B Adam LaRoche

The Nationals declined the option on first baseman Adam LaRoche. The 11-year veteran had four solid seasons in the nation's capital, but his departure will open the door for Ryan Zimmerman to play first base.

Rafael Soriano struggled in the last half of the season and lost his closer job to Drew Storen in late September. The team has declined Soriano's option and he will not be back in 2015.
