The New York Yankees are about to undergo a major face-lift this off season. In case you didn't hear, Derek Jeter retired, and Alex Rodriguez may not play third base while the team waits out his contract. Expect them to make a big splash in free agency. You know the Yankees aren't shy about spending money for big-named talent. Here are five options to replace A-Rod at third base.

Tomas is the hottest name coming out of Cuba this year. With the success of Aroldis Chapman, Yoenis Cespedes and Yasiel Puig, Cuban talent is big these days. Tomas just turned 24 and pounded the ball in workouts. The Phillies seem to be the team most likely to sign him, but I can see the Yankees coming in and outbidding Philadelphia. Tomas is expected to ask for at least a seven-year deal worth around $100 million.

Chase Headley had a terrible year for the San Diego Padres last year, hitting .229 with just seven home runs in 77 games. So the Padres shipped him to the Yankees, where he turned things around a bit. Headley played in 58 games for the Yankees, hitting six home runs and driving in 17 runs. He hit .262. The Yankees could take a chance on Headley returning to his 2012 numbers, when he hit 31 homers and drove in 115 runs.

3. Pedro Alvarez

The Pirates slugger struggled at the hot corner last year, resulting in his benching in favor of Josh Harrison. The Pirates will most likely not sign Alvarez at the end of next year, so they will be looking to trade him. He is a New York native and would fit in well with the Bronx Bombers. The Yankees could give Alvarez another go at third base. If Alvarez's struggles in the field continue, the Yankees could slide him to DH.

2. Pablo Sandoval

Pablo Sandoval was a rock star again this postseason for the San Francisco Giants. He batted .400 in the NLCS and .429 in the World Series. Sandoval is a postseason giant, with a career .344 average in 39 games, including three World Series titles. Expect him to command a five-year deal worth nearly $100 million, a price tag the Yankees can afford.

Hanley is finally giving in, telling teams he would consider a switch in positions. He has long begged to stay at SS, but he is much better suited at 3B these days. Going to the AL will also give him the option to DH some games. Ramirez would be the big-name free agent the Yankees could be looking for. He hit .283 last year with the Dodgers, with 13 homers and 71 RBIs. Rumors are he's looking for a five-year deal worth around $100 million.
